Recruiting Now!

The Cavendish Singers are recruiting new members. There are no auditions but whilst not essential it helps if you can read music.

We have a wide repertoire, ranging from light music to sacred works by classical composers.

We meet on Wednesday evenings (see the Rehearsals and Location page). For further information please see the 'contact us' page.

First Meeting 2020

Our first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday 8th January at 7.15pm at the usual venue.

All members of the choir are reminded to bring the sheets of music and the booklets that were used for the Christmas series of concerts. Before you hand them in, please check to see if you have written the title on the outside page of a folded pair. This helps greatly in sorting and storing the music.

Subscriptions are now due for 2020. You can pay in one lump sum of £60 either in cash notes or through the Faster Payments Banking System to Sort Code 20-26-20 Account 7024 4449. (Cheques for £60 will also be accepted on the evening of Wednesday 8th January only.)

A system of paying six £10 instalments is also available. Please ask to check for the dates on which the instalments should be paid.

Christmas 2019 events

We had three enjoyable events during December.

Our performances started with a very successful Christmas Music Evening on 13th December. Nearly 100 people came to enjoy music, mince pies and wine. We had soloists, trios, small groups and the full choir. There are some photographs of the occasion you can look at in the public resources area.

The following day we gathered at Manchester Central Library for our annual public carol performance. Some of the music from the previous night and some old favourites were on the bill. About 40 people were in the audience for this event.

On Saturday 21st December, Natalie led a determined band of 20 choir members to brave the elements outside Didsbury Oxfam Shop to entertain the passing public with carols, generating a goodly sum in donations for the shop.

Happy Christmas All !
